How do I get AGPO certificate in Kenya

AGPO program was officially launched on 16th October 2013, in Nairobi. The program is founded on the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 Article 227 on the fair, equitable, transparent, and cost-effective public procurement of goods and services, the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 Article 55 on affirmative action and the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015. The program is a public procurement system, designed to ensure that the public sector procures goods and services in the most efficient and effective manner, and at the lowest possible cost.

The program is designed to provide a level playing field for all stakeholders and to promote competition in the public procurement process

Requirements For AGPO Certificate In Kenya

1. Requirements for youth

  • National Identity Card/ Kenyan passport (youths are from ages 18 to 34 years).
  • Business registration certificate/ certificate of incorporation
  • CR12 for the limited company from the registrar of companies
  • Partnership deed for partnership business
  • Tax compliance certificate
  • National Construction Authority letter/ certificate for construction category.

2. Requirements for persons with disabilities

Original scans of

  • National Identity Card/ Kenyan passport
  • Registration document from the National Council for persons with disabilities
  • Business registration certificate/ certificate of incorporation
  • CR12 for the limited company from the registrar of companies (system generated soft copy)
  • Partnership deed for partnership business
  • Tax compliance certificate
  • National Construction Authority letter/ certificate for construction category

3. Requirements for women

Original scans of

How to Join AGPO 1. Register a business enterprise with the Attorney General’s office as a sole proprietorship business, partnership business, or limited company.

The enterprise owned by youth, women or persons with disabilities shall be a legal entity that is registered with the relevant government body.

2. If the business is a partnership, get a partnership deed from a lawyer, if it is a limited company, a CR12 from the registrar of companies.

3. Acquire a PIN and tax compliance/ tax exemption certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority website.

4. Acquire all required certifications from professional bodies and authorities such as National Construction Authority, Insurance Regulatory Authority, ICPAK, LSK, National council for persons with disabilities, NEMA, ERC and other authorized bodies.

5. Open a bank account for the business and acquire a bank reference from the bank.

6. Access the website www.agpo.go.ke and register online or visit your nearest Huduma Centre for assistance.

7. Submit all required documentation to the AGPO office.
