The National Construction Authority (NCA), constituted under the Act No. 41 of 2011, is mandated to register contractors and to prepare a register of builders cleared to work in Kenya.

Procedure for NCA Registration in Kenya
Registration of contractors in Kenya is regulated and processed under the National Construction Authority Act and regulations in Kenya.
Contractors may register under different Classes Guided by the technical and financial capabilities of the contractors.
NCA Registration can be done under the following Classes
NCA1:
Unlimited contract value: which has various classes:

NCA2:
Up to 500, 000, 000 [Contractors Building], Up to 250, 000, 000 [Specialist
Contractors], Up to 750, 000, 000 [Roads and other Civil Works].
NCA3:
Up to 300, 000, 000 [Contractors Building] Up to 150, 000, 000 [Specialist
Contractors] Up to 500, 000, 00 [Roads and other Civil Works]
NCA4:
Up to 200, 000, 000 [Contractors Building] Up to 100, 000, 000 [Specialist
Contractors] Up to 300, 000, 000 [Roads and other Civil Works]
NCA5:
Up to 100, 000, 000 [Contractors Building] Up to 50, 000, 000 [Specialist

The application procedure involves the following
1.Compliation
of the requirements.
Requirements include the following.
– Application form.
– Company documents.
– Company profile.
– Compliance.
2. Submission for
registration.
The application and the prescribed forms
are submitted to the National Construction Authority for processing.
3. NCA Certificate.
If the application is successful the NCA
certificate is issued for the class applied for.
Requirements for NCA registration in Kenya
- Copy of Registration Documents of the Business.
- Current CR12 in case of a limited company.
- Copy of Company or Business PIN.
- Current Tax Compliance certificate.
- Physical address of the Contractor. Address includes road, plot number, town, county.
- Academic credentials of technically qualified director or employee of the company.
- If applying for Electrical contractor, relevant registration certificate from the Energy Regulation authority.
- Audited accounts
- Copy of ID and PIN and the applicants.
